At its plant in Böblingen, NXP Semiconductors Germany - the second-biggest manufacturer of semiconductors in Germany - produces highly integrated semiconductor circuits for use in sectors like computers, multimedia and automotive engineering. The hightech production facilities on the 25 hectare complex require a very specific infrastructure: the sensitive components are manufactured in ultra-cleanrooms, where dust may not exceed one particle (> 0.1 mm) per cubic foot.
